Treemendous York

The Treemendous York partnership, a voluntary not-for-profit group supported by City of York Council, was formed in 2011, bringing together organisations and individuals with an interest in tree and hedgerow planting to drive forward a programme of planting more than 50,000 trees in Greater York. The partnerhsip has so far planted over 68,000 trees and 8,800m of hedgerow trees to date, and counting.

Having successfully reached their programme targets in just less than 15 years, the partnership will no longer exist from Easter 2025. Treemendous have been involved in a wide range of planting projects over that time, with some of the early projects beginning to look like actual woodland, rather than fields full of tree guards. Their website has a range of case studies showcasing their work which make for interest field trips to check in on their progress.
