Cycling, Dog Friendly, Volunteering, Walking, Wheelchair AccessibleClifton Backies contains a relatively large area of old, agriculturally unimproved grassland, together with thickets and hedgerows. The site previously formed part of Clifton aerodrome. The track verges support an interesting flora. Scrubby areas provide valuable habitat for breeding and wintering birds. Short-eared owls have occasionally been seen in winter hunting over the grassland and Long- eared owl recorded as a possible winter roost.
